Senior Underwriting Manager – Bridging Finance
Location: London / Hybrid
Salary: £70-80k + Discretionary Bonuses
Role Type: Full-time
The Opportunity
This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for taking ownership of unregulated bridging loan applications from initial enquiry through to completion. You’ll have significant autonomy, including delegated lending authority and a seat on the Investment Committee, giving you direct influence over key lending decisions.
Alongside managing your own portfolio of complex transactions, you’ll play an important role in supporting, mentoring and developing a team of Underwriters and Case Managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the full underwriting lifecycle for unregulated bridging transactions, from initial enquiry through to completion.
- Underwrite complex and high-value bridging facilities, assessing borrower strength, security, leverage, affordability and exit strategy.
- Make commercial lending decisions within delegated authority.
- Sit on the Investment Committee and contribute to lending and credit decisions.
- Manage your own portfolio of complex live transactions.
- Lead due diligence, KYC and fraud checks, ensuring robust risk controls are followed.
- Review valuations, legal documentation, financial information and supporting evidence.
- Identify key risks and appropriate mitigants when structuring facilities.
- Work closely with brokers, funders, solicitors, valuers and borrowers throughout the transaction.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and introducers.
- Ensure transactions progress efficiently while maintaining strong underwriting and credit standards.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to Underwriters and Case Managers.
- Assist with developing underwriting processes, policies and best practice.
- Support the wider business with complex cases and credit-related queries.

About You
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Bridging Finance Underwriter with a strong understanding of unregulated property finance and the ability to make confident, commercially minded lending decisions.
- Significant experience underwriting unregulated bridging finance.
- Strong knowledge of property finance, credit assessment and risk management.
- Experience managing complex transactions from enquiry through to completion.
- Strong understanding of property valuations, legal due diligence and exit strategies.
- Experience with delegated lending authority and/or Investment/Credit Committee decision-making.
- Excellent analytical and commercial judgement.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly with brokers and professional partners.
- Experience mentoring, managing or supporting Underwriters and Case Managers.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
- A proactive and commercially minded approach.
