Responsibilities and duties of the Senior UPS Field Service Engineer role
Reporting To The Service Team You Will
- Install, commission and test single and three-phase UPS systems.
- Carry out load-bank testing and site acceptance testing.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance and remedial repairs on UPS systems.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on UPS systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Act as a technical escalation point for complex faults and support root cause investigations.
- Carry out battery maintenance, installation, replacement and testing.
- Undertake site surveys and complete technical reports.
- Prepare and follow site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
- Support the training and development of junior engineers and trainees.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota once fully trained and authorised.
- Travel throughout the UK and stay away from home when required.

Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Previous experience in a UPS or critical power field service role.
- Strong experience with UPS commissioning, maintenance, fault finding and repair.
- Knowledge of UPS communication protocols, monitoring systems and static transfer switches.
- Strong electrical/electronic fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand electrical circuit diagrams.
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- Competent using electrical test equipment and hand tools.
Personal skills
The Senior UPS Field Service Engineer role would suit someone who is:
- Good communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Customer-focused and comfortable working independently on customer sites.
- Has a Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and stay away from home when required, typically around one week per month.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft 365.
