Senior User Researcher
Salary: £57,500–£66,000 per annum
Location: London
Working Arrangement: Candidates must be able to work on-site at an office or client location at least 2 days per week, depending on client requirements
Contract: Full-time
Overview
Our client is a digital consultancy seeking a Senior User Researcher to lead research activity across multidisciplinary Agile teams and advise clients on complex service design challenges.
The role will involve:
- Planning and conducting user research
- Translating evidence into recommendations
- Supporting user-centred service design and testing services throughout delivery
The successful candidate will also provide leadership to other researchers, manage or mentor colleagues, support client relationships and promote inclusive, people-centred design approaches.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on complex problems using user research, people-centred design and Agile methodologies.
- Lead multidisciplinary Agile teams in designing services around identified user needs.
- Plan and conduct user research across different environments.
- Translate research evidence into recommendations for service design.
- Test services during development and use research findings to inform design decisions.
- Advocate inclusive approaches within user research.
- Build effective relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Challenge ideas constructively and manage difficult conversations.
- Line manage user researchers.
- Advise colleagues on how to make effective use of user research.
- Support recruitment activity, events, blog writing and new business activity.
- Promote people-centred design approaches internally and externally.

Requirements
- Expertise in applying user research methodologies across different environments.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary Agile teams to design and deliver people-centred services.
- Working knowledge of researching accessibility needs or assisted digital needs.
- Proven experience championing user research, user-centred design or service design approaches.
- Experience of line management or mentoring and training other user researchers.
- Advanced communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage conflict and communicate difficult messages with tact and sensitivity.
- Good understanding of Agile roles across design, product and technology.
- Strong consultancy and leadership skills.
- Confidence exploring problem spaces with clients and determining appropriate approaches.
