About the Company
Our client, a growing digital consultancy, is seeking a Senior User Researcher to lead research activities across complex digital services and transformation projects.
About the Role
Working within multidisciplinary agile teams, the successful candidate will design, plan and conduct research to understand user needs, test services throughout development and translate evidence into clear recommendations. The role also includes advising clients, leading teams, supporting other researchers and promoting inclusive, user-centred design approaches. This position offers the opportunity to influence clients and colleagues, contribute to business development and continue developing as a senior research and people leader. The advertised salary range reflects the entry point and progression available within this level.
Responsibilities
- Design, plan and conduct user research across a range of digital services and environments.
- Analyse research findings and produce evidence-based recommendations for user-centred service design.
- Test services during development and use research evidence to support design decisions.
- Advise clients on solving complex problems through research, people-centred design and agile methods.
- Lead multidisciplinary agile teams in designing services that meet identified user needs.
- Promote inclusive research practices, including consideration of accessibility and assisted digital needs.
- Build effective relationships with clients, stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Challenge assumptions, manage difficult conversations and communicate sensitive findings with tact.
- Line manage, mentor and support user researchers.
- Advise colleagues on how to use research effectively throughout the design and delivery process.
- Support recruitment, events, thought-leadership content and new business activity.
- Promote the organisation’s people-centred design capability internally and externally.

Qualifications
- Extensive experience applying user research methodologies across different environments.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary agile teams to design and deliver people-centred services.
- Working knowledge of researching accessibility or assisted digital needs.
- Proven experience championing user research, user-centred design or service design approaches.
- Experience of line managing, mentoring or training user researchers.
- Advanced communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage conflict and communicate difficult messages with tact and sensitivity.
- Good understanding of agile roles across design, product and technology.
- Strong consultancy and leadership skills.
- Confidence in exploring complex problem areas with clients and determining appropriate research approaches.
- Willingness to travel and work from office or client locations for at least two days per week, depending on project requirements.

Pay range and compensation package
Salary: £57,500–£66,000 per annum
