We are seeking a thoughtful and proactive Senior UX Designer. They will be trusted to lead design activity, making informed decisions and progressing work with confidence while drawing on the expertise of the wider team when needed. Taking initiative should feel natural, whether shaping workshops, influencing stakeholders, or identifying opportunities to improve the customer experience. You know when to move forward autonomously and when to seek support, ensuring progress without creating unnecessary dependency.

That’s why we’re at the heart of delivering the hardware and software for devices that keep our customers entertained. From UX and UI to product strategy and hardware engineering, we bring new devices like Sky Glass and Sky Live to life at top speed and support them throughout the product and engineering lifecycles.

What you’ll do

The role of Senior UX Designer within the Browse team of Entertainment is fundamentally the creative execution of design work across multiple projects and focuses around three core areas:

Creative Delivery

  • Lead and manage the UX design delivery from discovery to optimisation on multiple roadmap projects and workstreams.
  • Maintain an efficient design delivery process through regular communication with delivery teams and consistently delivering to schedule.
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop innovative ideas, solve problems creatively, and shape these into logical, coherent solutions that meet our business and customer’s needs.
  • Support the Head of Design in shaping the day-to-day delivery, and visionary experience for Browse digital products, ensuring it aligns with Group Product and multiple brand strategies.

Relationships & Networks

  • Confidently communicate design solutions and rationale with stakeholders from Group Products delivery function to build support, establish agreement, and influence strategy.
  • Represent the design team and advocate the value of user-centred design practices with internal partners, and externally when required.

Teams

  • Collaborate with Global Design, Product, Engineering and Editorial teams to create new experiences and evolve patterns.
  • Plan and actively participate in team meetings and design critiques. Organise and facilitate discovery & design workshops to help shape roadmap prioritisation.

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex design concepts clearly and build support with stakeholders across the business.
  • Proven understanding of user-centred design, human interface guidelines, standards and best practice across a range of platforms and devices.
  • Strong design craft, with experience creating clear design artefacts such as user journeys, user flows, sitemaps, wireframes and interactive prototypes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with experience gathering business requirements and translating competing objectives into designs that meet customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire, interpret and apply qualitative and quantitative insights to inform design decisions.
  • To be considered you must present an up-to-date portfolio of your design work, at the time of application.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience designing with accessibility in mind and applying inclusive design principles to improve customer experiences.
  • A keen eye for maintaining consistency across UX guidelines, principles, templates, patterns and design system assets.
  • Experience designing for TV products, large-screen entertainment experiences, or cross-platform customer journeys across TV, web, mobile and tablet.

How you’ll work

We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 2 days in the office per week.

Your office base

Our Sky Group HQ. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and workspaces, there’s plenty of space to see your big ideas come to life. Here you’ll find 13 subsidised restaurants and cafes.
