About the role
Whoosh is an exciting and fast-moving area of Tesco, helping customers get what they need, when they need it through our rapid delivery proposition.
We’re looking for a Senior UX Designer to join the team in London and play a key role in shaping the experience as Whoosh continues to evolve.
This is an opportunity to work on a high-profile digital product used by Tesco customers, solving complex problems and turning them into simple, intuitive experiences. You’ll lead UX across significant pieces of work, working closely with Product, Engineering, Research, UI and other teams to take ideas from discovery through to delivery.
You’ll have the space to influence how we do things, challenge thinking and champion user-centred design, while helping other designers develop along the way.
You will be responsible for
- Leading the end-to-end UX design process, from understanding user needs and defining problems through to journeys, flows, prototypes, testing and implementation.
- Putting customers at the heart of your thinking and using evidence and insight to create experiences that make things a little better and easier for them.
- Working in partnership with Product Managers, Engineers, UX Researchers and UI Designers to turn customer and business needs into effective product experiences.
- Planning and facilitating workshops, design sprints, peer reviews and collaborative sessions with a broad range of teams and stakeholders.
- Creating journey maps, user flows, wireframes and prototypes to explore ideas, communicate interactions and validate potential solutions.
- Using both qualitative and quantitative insight to inform your design decisions and measure the impact of changes.
- Confidently presenting your thinking and design rationale, influencing stakeholders and constructively challenging where needed.
- Working with and contributing to the Tesco Digital Design System to create consistent, accessible experiences.
- Supporting and mentoring other designers, sharing your knowledge and helping to raise the quality of design across the wider team.
- Looking for opportunities to improve how we research, design and deliver products, simplifying processes and helping the team work effectively.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
