About Radioplayer

Radioplayer is a tech and data company working directly with leading car manufacturers, technology partners and voice platforms to globally build and deliver the best radio experience across connected dashboards and beyond. Radioplayer is owned and backed by the radio industry with a clear focus: keeping broadcasters in control while making radio simple, trusted and easy to access wherever people listen. Today, Radioplayer operates across international markets and works at the intersection of media, technology and in-car audio. Our headquarters is in London, but our team spans the whole of Europe working on behalf of thousands of radio stations.

Our Product team brings together product management, delivery, design and R&D. We aim to reuse shared platform capabilities wherever possible, while recognising that partners and audiences have different brands, contexts and user-experience requirements.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior UX/UI Designer to lead and evolve the user experience across Radioplayer's consumer products. This is a hands-on role with design leadership responsibility. The successful candidate will define and evolve the UX/UI direction, turn early product ideas into clear user journeys and prototypes, and improve the quality and consistency of our products across every platform.

This role complements our Product team by taking ownership of UX, UI and design across Radioplayer's products. Product Managers will continue to own product strategy, roadmap and prioritisation, while this role is responsible for shaping how our products are experienced by users. The designer will work closely with Product Managers, delivery colleagues, engineers and Radioplayer's own R&D resources to create intuitive, accessible and visually consistent experiences.

A key part of the role will be balancing reuse with partner-specific adaptation. Different OEMs and other partners will expect some customisation to match their brands, design guidelines and user experiences. The role will help us meet those needs while keeping the shared Radioplayer experience and design system consistent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the UX/UI discipline within Radioplayer's Product team and provide clear design leadership across automotive, mobile, web, connected TV and broadcaster applications.
  • Define and evolve the long-term UX vision across Radioplayer's consumer products, ensuring a consistent, intuitive and accessible experience across platforms while adapting appropriately for different OEMs and partners.
  • Turn early product ideas and requirements into user journeys, information architecture, wireframes, high-fidelity Figma designs and interactive prototypes before significant development effort is committed.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and R&D resources to explore, prototype and validate ideas quickly, helping move them from concept to implementation.
  • Create, evolve and maintain a shared Radioplayer design system, including reusable components, interaction patterns, visual standards, accessibility guidance and documentation.
  • Keep the experience coherent across the platform while designing appropriate adaptations for different OEMs and partners.
  • Set clear principles for when to reuse standard patterns and when partner-specific customisation is needed, helping avoid unnecessary fragmentation.
  • Plan and run appropriate user research, usability testing and design validation, using what we learn to improve flows, interactions and interfaces.
  • Collaborate with engineers throughout delivery to resolve design questions, document intended behaviour and check that the implemented experience matches the approved design.
  • Brief, guide and quality-assure external UX/UI resources or design partners when extra capacity is needed, while keeping internal ownership of design direction, standards and decisions.
  • Explain design decisions clearly to internal stakeholders, broadcasters, OEMs and technology partners, and use feedback without losing sight of user needs or platform consistency.
  • Help establish and grow Radioplayer's in-house UX/UI capability, reducing reliance on external design resources over time while ensuring consistent design quality.
  • Promote user-centred design practices across Radioplayer and help embed UX thinking into product development and decision-making.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Design experience in automotive, in-car infotainment, mobility or another safety- and context-sensitive environment.
  • Experience working with OEM design guidelines, white-label products, multi-tenant platforms or products adapted for several partner brands.
  • Experience designing across more than one of the following: native mobile, responsive web, connected TV, embedded systems or broadcaster/media applications.
  • Understanding of driver-distraction constraints, glanceability, input methods and accessibility considerations in automotive interfaces.
  • Experience with audio, radio, streaming, media discovery or content-rich consumer products.
  • Practical experience conducting lightweight user research, moderated usability testing or prototype validation.
  • Familiarity with front-end implementation concepts and the ability to discuss component behaviour, states and responsive rules with engineers.
  • Experience working within a distributed, international product organisation and with external agencies or development partners.

Reporting Line

The role reports to the Head of Product and sits within the Product team. It will work closely with Product Managers, Product Delivery & Operations, R&D and engineering colleagues, and will provide design direction to external UX/UI resources or design partners when they are engaged.

Additional Information

This is a hands-on senior design role. The successful candidate should be comfortable producing detailed design work as well as setting standards and leading design quality.

The role does not include direct line management at present, but it does require the confidence and experience to guide design work across internal and external contributors.

Candidates should provide a portfolio that demonstrates process, decisions and outcomes, not only final screens. Examples covering design systems, complex journeys and multi-platform work are particularly relevant.

Please send your portfolio to natalia@radioplayer.org.
