Join a leading telecommunications company as a Senior VAT Compliance Manager!
Job Overview
Working as part of a leading telecommunications company, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely VAT compliance across multiple businesses whilst providing technical oversight, issue resolution and guidance to both stakeholders and junior team members. This assignment is ideally suited to a self-sufficient VAT specialist who can hit the ground running and operate with minimal supervision from day one.
Contract Details
- Contract Length: 4-8 weeks (with visibility to extend)
- Location: Bradford (hybrid – twice per week on-site)
- Day Rate: £600 per day (inside IR35)
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of VAT compliance activities across a portfolio of UK and international entities.
- Review and approve monthly and quarterly VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Investigate complex transactions, VAT postings and compliance issues, providing technical challenge and guidance where required.
- Manage relationships with internal customers and stakeholders, attending meetings and advising on VAT treatments and process changes.
- Oversee work completed by junior team members, providing coaching, prioritisation support and technical review.
- Drive issue resolution by identifying incorrect VAT treatments and working with the wider business to implement corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, process enhancements and VAT reporting controls within the compliance function.

Key Requirements
- Extensive VAT Compliance experience with strong UK VAT expertise.
- Professional Accounting or Tax qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent).
- Proven ability to work autonomously and make senior-level decisions with minimal supervision.
- Experience reviewing VAT returns, VAT accounting processes and reconciliations.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills within complex, multi-entity organisations.
- Experience with large ERP systems such as Oracle Fusion, Oracle R12 or SAP would be advantageous.
- Exposure to international VAT environments (particularly Netherlands or Swiss VAT) would be beneficial but is not essential.
