Senior Vehicle Engineer Vacancy at Go-Ahead London

About Go-Ahead London

Go-Ahead London is the capital’s largest bus operator, ensuring reliable transport for millions using a fleet of 2,450 vehicles. Based primarily in South East, South West, North East, and East London across 17 garages, we operate a quarter of London’s iconic red bus network on behalf of Transport for London (TfL).

As an award-winning company with a strong industry reputation, we’ve opened three new garages in the last five years. Now, we’re recruiting Senior Vehicle Engineers to join us in delivering exceptional service while embracing innovation and sustainability.

We currently offer new pay rates from £1,034.66 per week (2026).


Key Responsibilities

  • Service Excellence

    • Provide reliable and effective vehicle maintenance to uphold a dependable service that customers can trust.
    • Maintain London’s reputation for impeccable public transport, ensuring every journey runs smoothly.
  • Technical & Engineering Solutions

    • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical faults across heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and passenger carrying vehicle (PCV) fleets.

Requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile

We’re looking for motivated team players—individuals who are:

  • Approachable yet forward-thinking, willing to adapt to business demands.
  • Collaborative yet resourceful, able to work independently in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified to:
    • City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in engineering/electrical vehicle maintenance (preferred but not essential).
  • Essential experience:
    • Hands-on experience with HGV or PCV vehicles.
  • Licensing:
    • Current PCV licence required—training provided if necessary.

Availability

  • Ready to work shifts including early starts, late shifts, and weekends.
  • Flexibility to support any operational needs.
