Salary: Up to £65,000

Location: Bridgend, South Wales

Independent, vet-owned RCVS-accredited Small Animal Hospital

4 or 5-day week

First On-Call or Senior Back-Up options

The Vet Office is recruiting an experienced Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join an independent, vet-owned Small Animal Hospital in Bridgend, ideally located between Cardiff and Swansea.

This is a flexible senior position for a vet who enjoys high-quality GP work, emergency care and supporting the development of less experienced colleagues.

THE ROLE

Two different options are available depending on your experience and preferred level of OOH responsibility:

Senior Back-Up Vet

  • 4-day working week
  • 8-hour shifts
  • 1 in 4 weekend mornings
  • 1 in 4 rota as second on-call OOH
  • Back-up usually provided from home, attending when required
  • Must live within approximately 30 minutes of the hospital

First On-Call Senior Vet

  • 5-day working week
  • 7 nights on-call followed by 7 recovery days
  • 2 weekend mornings across an 11-week rota
  • Practice accommodation available on site if required for OOH

THE HOSPITAL

You will be joining a supportive, VetGDP-approved hospital with a strong focus on clinical development, mentoring and high-quality patient care.

Facilities include:

  • RVN and SVN on site 24/7
  • DR X-ray
  • Doppler ultrasound
  • Dental suite with dental radiography
  • Comprehensive in-house laboratory
  • Range of scopes
  • Separate cat, dog and exotic areas
  • Varied GP, surgical and emergency caseload
  • Protected breaks and scheduled admin time

There is also scope to develop your caseload towards particular clinical interests.

PACKAGE

  • £40,000–£65,000 depending on experience and role
  • 33 days holiday
  • Option to purchase an additional 5 days
  • £1,500 CPD allowance plus 5 CPD days
  • Enhanced CPD support for Advanced Practitioners
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • One additional professional membership paid

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident with general practice and emergency cases, enjoys mentoring colleagues and would like to take on greater clinical responsibility within a supportive independent environment.

Bridgend offers excellent connections to Cardiff and Swansea, as well as easy access to the Welsh coast and Brecon Beacons.
