I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We are not only an award-winning business but one of the largest pet insurance providers in the UK. So far, we’ve helped support over 800 charities and conservancies across the UK and worldwide and donated over £10 million and continue to use our voice and platform to fight for positive change. We believe that even the smallest act can make a big difference.
We understand that our success is only possible because of how we work together, which is why our company values of being courageous, kind-hearted, and passionate are the heart of what we do – and we simply wouldn’t be who we are today without our colleagues, who embody these values every day.
We are part of Doubtless Pet Care, one of the largest pet insurance and services organisations globally, with over 4,500 colleagues supporting over 6 million pets across the globe. Our passion for pets powers our purpose to help pet parents get better access to better care, so they can focus on the joy that happy healthy pets bring to their lives.
