Capstone Senior Vice President of European Energy Policy
Capstone is seeking a Senior Vice President of European Energy Policy with deep expertise in European electricity markets, power generation, utilities, and energy transition policy. This senior leadership role will drive differentiated, investment-relevant insights grounded in rigorous policy, regulatory, and market analysis across European energy markets.
The Senior Vice President will serve as a senior advisor to institutional investors, translating complex European legislative, regulatory, and political developments into actionable investment strategies. This individual will play a key role in expanding Capstone’s European energy practice, developing senior client relationships, and establishing Capstone as a leading authority on European energy policy and markets.
The SVP will work closely with Capstone’s senior leadership to shape research priorities, develop new client opportunities, and deliver high-impact insights at the intersection of policy, politics, energy markets, and financial markets. The role will also involve mentoring and developing junior team members and collaborating across Capstone’s global sector teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Capstone’s research and advisory work across European electricity markets, utilities, power generation, grid infrastructure, and energy transition policy
- Develop differentiated, forward-looking investment theses based on European legislative, regulatory, political, and market developments
- Serve as a senior advisor and thought leader to institutional investors, including hedge funds, asset managers, private equity firms, and other financial institutions
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with European policymakers, regulators, industry executives, and institutional investors
- Advise clients on the investment implications of EU and national-level energy policy and regulatory developments
- Lead senior client engagements, presentations, briefings, and strategic discussions
- Contribute to business development, including identifying new opportunities, expanding existing relationships, and supporting client acquisition
- Produce high-quality research reports, policy briefings, investment analysis, and client presentations
- Represent Capstone at industry conferences, policy forums, and other high-level external engagements
- Collaborate with Capstone’s global energy and sector teams to deliver integrated, cross-sector insights
- Mentor and develop junior team members and contribute to the growth of Capstone’s European energy research capabilities

Qualifications and Attributes
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- Exceptional analytical, strategic, and commercial judgment
- Deep expertise in European energy policy, electricity markets, and the energy transition
- Strong track record of developing differentiated investment insights and thought leadership
- Established relationships with senior policymakers, regulators, industry executives, and/or institutional investors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage C-suite executives and senior investment professionals
- Proven ability to lead complex client engagements and drive business development
- Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to independently develop new research, client, and business opportunities
- Passion for the intersection of policy, politics, energy markets, and financial markets
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred in Public Policy, Economics, Finance, Energy Systems, or a related field
- 8+ years of relevant experience in energy policy, investment research, consulting, investment banking, or related fields
- Significant expertise in European electricity markets, power generation, utilities, grid regulation, and energy transition policy
- Demonstrated experience advising institutional investors or producing investment-oriented energy and policy research
- Established network across European policymakers, regulators, industry stakeholders, and/or financial institutions
- Strong familiarity with EU energy policy and regulatory frameworks and key European power markets
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in another European language preferred
- Must be eligible to work in the EU without sponsorship
- Based in or open to relocation to London, Paris, or Brussels

Candidate Profile
- 8+ years of experience in European energy policy, electricity markets, utilities, power generation, or energy transition.
- Deep understanding of EU and national energy policy, regulatory frameworks, and European power markets.
- Strong track record advising institutional investors, asset managers, hedge funds, or private equity firms on energy policy and market developments.
- Established relationships with European policymakers, regulators, utilities, energy companies, and industry stakeholders.
- Ability to translate complex policy and regulatory developments into actionable investment insights.
- Proven thought leadership, client management, and business development capabilities.
- Strong communication skills and experience presenting to senior investment professionals and C-suite stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial, commercially minded leader who can help grow Capstone’s European energy practice.
