About the Role

"Are you ready to join a team of wastewater modellers and shape the future of the Water Industry?"

Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Senior Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller. This role is based in either our UK or Ireland offices, with the flexibility of a hybrid working model.

As a key player, you will deliver impactful water projects across the UK and internationally, contributing to critical initiatives like:

  • Flood alleviation schemes
  • Pollution reduction
  • Infrastructure development

A defining aspect of our approach is the integration of our modelling team with wider project teams, ensuring close collaboration with experts in fields like hydraulic modelling, planning, and design. This fosters the development of comprehensive solutions.

As an industry leader in Blue-Green infrastructure and nature-based solutions, AECOM works with clients like:

  • Severn Trent
  • Anglian Water
  • Northern Ireland Water
  • Environment Agency
  • Local Government Flood Authorities (LLFAs)

Responsibilities

Here’s what you’ll do:

Key Duties

  • Deliver: Build hydraulic models and verify sewer networks, including:
    • Integrated model development
    • Support for project scoping and planning (e.g., flow survey verification)
    • Catchment-scale strategies for flooding and pollution risks
  • Advance Expertise: Apply cutting-edge technologies, devise innovative solutions for clients, and develop technical proposals for tender responses
  • Communicate: Present technical findings through reports, presentations, and documentation, ensuring clarity and impact
  • Lead: Mentor junior team members, fostering professional growth, and maintaining positive client relationships
  • Enforce Quality: Review hydraulic models, calculations, and technical reports to ensure compliance with standards and specifications

Requirements

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • A bachelor’s degree in:
    • Environmental Science
    • GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
    • Geography
    • Civil Engineering
    • A related subject
  • Proven experience in:
    • Hydraulic modelling (preferably ArcGIS or MapInfo)
    • Innovyze ICM or InfoAsset (for asset management)
  • Strong water consultancy background
  • Soft Skills:
    • Highly self-motivated and capable of working both autonomously and in fast-paced, deadline-driven teams
    • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning
    • Strong problem-solving ability
