Job Description
Start here. Grow here.
Let’s shape the future of the water industry.
We’re recruiting a Senior Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller, with the option to work from one of our UK or Ireland offices in a flexible hybrid working model.
You’ll play a pivotal role in transforming waterside projects across the UK and internationally—whether this is offering flood alleviation, combatting pollution, or expanding infrastructure. As our projects thrive on cross-disciplinary collaboration, you’ll deliver comprehensive solutions as part of an interdisciplinary team of planners, engineers, and environmental experts—all working alongside wind turbines, nature-based solutions specialists, and communications specialists.
AECOM stands at the frontier of blue-green infrastructure, with public and private sector partners such as: Severn Trent, Anglian Water, Northern Ireland Water, the Environment Agency, LLFA (Local Lead Flow Areas) LLDCs, and other infrastructure providers. We lead in Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies, outline business cases, hydraulic modelling, and detailed designs. But it’s not just projects—we shape industry standards with best practice guidance to ensure AECOM remains a leader in the field. Join a team that turns big problems into breakthroughs.
We thrill at the challenge of building a future that works better for people and planet. There’s no time to wait.
What you’ll do:
-
Deliver impactful water projects:
- Build hydraulic models, verify sewer networks, and guide integrated model development.
- Contribute to flow survey verification while crafting catchment-scale solutions addressing flooding and pollution risks.
-
Lead expertise and innovation:
- Share cutting-edge technologies while solving issues for our clients and crafting scopes/tender responses.
-
Celebrate robust documentation and communication:
- Prepare technical reports, highlight findings through presentations, and advocate for our modelling approaches.
-
Mentor + Quality Champions with purpose:
- Foster other modellers while ensuring review of our hydraulic models, calculations, and technical deliverables align with quality protocols and client needs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
