Job Description

What Does This Role Offer?

Welcome to the Senior Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller role—where you’ll drive innovation in UK and international water and wastewater projects! Here, you’ll join AECOM’s dynamic Water Team while benefiting from a flexible hybrid working model (based in Bristol, UK). Integrate with multidisciplinary project teams to shape flood risk solutions, improve infrastructure design, and pioneer Blue-Green and nature-based approaches.

As a leader in the water sector, we work closely with Severn Trent, Anglian Water, Northern Ireland Water, the Environment Agency, and Local Lead Flood Authorities and others to deliver:

  • Flood Risk Assessments
  • Drainage Strategies
  • Outline Business Cases
  • Hydraulic Models
  • Comprehensive Detailed Designs
  • Guidance and best-practice standards for the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Model Delivery: Build and verify hydraulic models, including sewer networks, integrated catchment models, and strategic-scale flood and pollution risk solutions.
  • Technical Innovation: Apply new technologies, develop scopes, and respond to client challenges with creative solutions.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings clearly.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Help junior team members grow, while supporting high-caliber client relationships.
  • Quality Assurance: Check models, calculations, and reports for accuracy and compliance with AECOM’s technical standards.

Core Requirements

Your passion, drive, and specialized skills will shape the future of water infrastructure. Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Essential Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, GIS, Geography, or Hydrology.
  • Proven Technical Skills:
    • Experience in Hydraulic Modelling, GIS, or Data Analysis (e.g., ArcGIS or MapInfo).
    • Proficiency in Hydraulic Modelling Software (such as Innovyze ICM or InfoAsset).
    • Expertise in Water or Environmental Consultancy capacity.
  • Personal Traits:
    • Strong ability to work autonomously and meet project deadlines.
    • Willingness to collaborate and adapt within a fast-paced team.
