About the Role

The thing that makes your position so important in Equator is that you take the lead development role in projects. You are fully responsible for ensuring the technical approach and delivery of the solutions we build is successful using the appropriate technology and workflows.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality, secure and performant solutions that meet our clients’ requirements.
  • Own the architecture decisions and solution design for your work.
  • AI-assisted development is now core to how we deliver. You lead its adoption on your projects, capturing the speed it offers while owning the quality, security and accountability that come with it.
  • Ensure all code is reviewed and merged via Pull Requests.
  • Ensure estimates are created for all work, documenting suggested approach and assumptions.
  • Ensure you and the developers you lead use appropriate tooling (such as JIRA), so progress and issues can be monitored at all times.
  • Ensure everyone on your team records progress and time appropriately. Keep a clear overview of progress, issues and overall project status, and take the steps needed to remove project impediments.
  • Ensure all of your own work, and the work of the teams you lead, is tested using appropriate tools and techniques, agreed before a project begins. Collaborate with a Test Manager for a shared project testing strategy.
  • Ensure required changes to the shared environment (internal and external) are documented appropriately.
  • Coordinate scoping on large projects, and give more junior team members the opportunity to take part, with proper support, for their development.
  • Take a leading role in project retrospectives.
  • Take an active role in mentoring the developers you lead, and give them the support they need. Coach good judgement with AI tools, not just how to use them, so they learn to question, test and understand what AI produces.
  • Protect client and company data in every AI workflow.
  • Conduct regular solution audits on our live solutions including: ensuring supported dependencies, performance, technical debt and CICD pipeline.
  • Ensure access to our environment, or our clients’, is performed securely.
  • Ensure all activity keeps to security best practice, across system development, internal systems, communications, buildings and hardware. Make sure appropriate security checks are carried out on all systems and that systems comply with data protection legislation (GDPR, PCI compliance).
  • Participate in the development team support rota.
  • Where appropriate, help the new business team ballpark and estimate new opportunities and complete associate documentation.
  • Prepare and lead client demos to show the project progress and value.
  • Attend client meetings and present when required.
  • Take morning stand ups and report any issues to your Engineering Manager as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
