Job Title
This influential role offers the opportunity to shape North Northamptonshire Council’s digital customer experience and make a visible difference to how people access services online.
You will lead on our website content, combining day-to-day delivery with ambitious improvements to content, user journeys, forms and functionality. Using data, user insight and digital best practice, you will make our online services easier, faster and more accessible for everyone. You will also work closely with our developers to shape and deliver a roadmap of development and improvements across our website.
What will you be doing?
- Line manage and mentor colleagues within the website team, setting clear priorities and supporting high-quality delivery.
- Oversee the council’s website and related digital platforms, helping to ensure they remain secure, reliable, compliant and operationally resilient.
- Provide leadership and governance for web content so it is accurate, accessible, consistent, written in plain English and focused on user needs.
- Improve information architecture, navigation and customer journeys so people can find and complete what they need to online.
- Use website analytics, search insight, accessibility findings, customer feedback and user testing to identify opportunities and measure improvements.
- Work proactively with services, providing expert advice, constructive challenge and practical support to improve their online content and processes.
- Design, review and maintain accessible digital forms and transactions that support effective self-service.
- Manage website requests, operational processes and competing priorities to provide a timely and consistent service.
- Work closely with website developers and designers to help develop the website and online services: from discovery and stakeholder engagement through to testing, deployment and post-release review.
- Contribute to agile delivery, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, prioritisation, reviews and continuous improvement.

About you

You will have relevant website or digital experience, with a strong understanding of accessible content, user-centred design, analytics and customer journey improvement. You will be able to turn complex information into clear digital content, build effective relationships, manage competing priorities and support colleagues.
You will also have experience of creating online forms and processes, website development, and line management or mentoring. Public-sector and Drupal experience would be an advantage.
