This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Werum PAS-X MES L2 Support & Integration Specialist based in United Kingdom.
As a Senior Werum PAS-X MES L2 Support & Integration Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining reliable manufacturing operations within a global pharmaceutical environment. You will provide expert-level support for Manufacturing Execution Systems, troubleshoot complex production issues, and ensure seamless integration between MES and enterprise platforms. Working closely with manufacturing, quality, validation, and IT teams, you will help maintain compliant, efficient, and continuously improving digital manufacturing processes. This remote freelance opportunity is ideal for an experienced MES professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, improving operational stability, and contributing to mission-critical pharmaceutical production systems.
Accountabilities
- Provide Level 2 application support for Werum PAS-X MES across manufacturing and packaging operations, ensuring system availability and operational continuity.
- Monitor, investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve MES incidents, execution failures, and integration issues according to agreed service levels.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring technical problems and coordinate resolution efforts with internal teams, vendors, and advanced support teams.
- Manage Werum PAS-X administration activities, including user management, security roles, permissions, and system configuration.
- Support the full lifecycle of Master Batch Records (MBR) and Electronic Batch Records (EBR), including updates, deployments, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain and improve integrations between Werum PAS-X and enterprise systems, particularly SAP PP-PI, ensuring reliable data exchange and interface performance.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Validation, and IT stakeholders to support compliant MES operations.
- Participate in validation activities, change management processes, system releases, enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, knowledge articles, and operational guidelines.
- Provide production support during critical manufacturing activities and ensure timely resolution of business-impacting issues.

Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting Werum PAS-X MES within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
- Strong hands-on experience providing Level 2 support for Manufacturing Execution Systems in production environments.
- Proven expertise in Werum PAS-X administration, configuration, and operational support.
- Experience managing Master Batch Records (MBR) and Electronic Batch Records (EBR) throughout their lifecycle.
- Mandatory experience with MES integrations, particularly SAP PP-PI connectivity and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, GMP requirements, Computerized System Validation (CSV), and regulated environments.
- Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, change control, and production issue resolution.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex technical challenges.
- Knowledge of manufacturing automation environments, ISA-95 architecture, middleware technologies, SCADA, PLCs, historian platforms, or Industry 4.0 solutions is a plus.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices or certification is considered an advantage.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
