Position Summary

The Senior Workplace Engineer will be a key member of our Workplace Practice, focusing on implementing and supporting solutions that leverage the Microsoft 365 suite and 3rd party applications to meet our clients' diverse needs. This role is essential in ensuring that our Microsoft 365-based solutions are designed and deployed to the highest standards, incorporating best practices and innovative approaches to meet and exceed customer expectations. The Senior Workplace Engineer will collaborate with customers and internal teams to thoroughly understand business challenges and objectives, providing expert support and guidance on utilising workplace technologies effectively to address these needs. By combining strong technical skills with a solid understanding of business processes, this role will deliver and maintain tailored, future-proof solutions that enhance workplace collaboration, productivity, and security.

Role Mission

Claranet’s strategy is to build long-term, trusted relationships with its customers by delivering market-leading, integrated managed services. To support this, we are seeking a Senior Workplace Engineer to join our team, focusing on implementing expert Microsoft 365 and 3rd party solutions to enhance our clients' productivity, collaboration, and security.

Objectives & Key Results

  • Contribute to the target of 70% of services being scalable and repeatable
  • Ensure that solutions are engineered in a manner that is scalable and repeatable to optimise delivery efficiency and commercial cost-effectiveness
  • Use implementation and support methodologies that are industry best practice and consistent where possible across the team
  • Drive a smooth and high-quality onboarding experience for our customers onto Microsoft 365 and 3rd party workplace solutions
  • Work across the technical landscape to ensure the right technologies, processes, and standards are used to ensure a quality delivery and in-life managed service experience for our customers
  • Deliver reliable and performant solutions and services on Microsoft 365 and integrated platforms
  • Ensure skills and knowledge are up-to-date and aligned with the organisation's goals

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Roles & Responsibilities

  • Implement standardised Microsoft 365 and related 3rd party solutions that meet business requirements and ensure scalability, reliability, and security
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their business requirements and provide guidance on how to leverage Microsoft 365 and related technologies to meet those requirements
  • Perform customer solution implementations in conjunction with internal technical teams, external suppliers, and other stakeholders as needed
  • Develop a strong working relationship with other technical practices to drive best practices, capability, and opportunity
  • Support in the development and implementation of processes and technologies related to Microsoft 365 deployments with a focus on "Automate First"
  • Create and maintain documentation for Microsoft 365 solutions and infrastructure, including integration points with 3rd party applications
  • Provide timely, accurate, and consistent technical infrastructure services to internal and external customers
  • Identify opportunities to modernise existing customer environments
  • Serve as an escalation point for Microsoft 365 deployments as required

Critical Competencies – Technical Fit

Essential

  • Expertise across the Microsoft 365 stack, with in-depth knowledge of Intune, Purview, and related technologies
  • Experience in deploying, managing, and supporting M365 solutions and services
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with clients to understand their business requirements
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical implementations
  • Ability to articulate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven skills in accurately gathering requirements and participating in customer workshops, ensuring stakeholder needs are thoroughly understood and met
  • Strong service orientation with a demonstrable commitment to customer service
  • Ability to contribute effectively to delivery activities, including writing technical documentation and reports
  • Effective change management and adoption strategies to ensure a smooth transition and uptake of new technologies
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, contributing to a collaborative work environment and sharing knowledge and best practices with colleagues
  • A commitment to continuous professional development to ensure up-to-date knowledge of the latest Microsoft 365 features, security practices, and integration capabilities. This includes participating in relevant training, certifications, and industry events.
