Senior Youth & Family Practitioner

Families First in Greenwich

Children's Services | Royal Borough of Greenwich

Help Shape the Future of Family Help

We're transforming services for children, young people and families through the Families First reforms, creating integrated, relationship-based support that helps families thrive and reduces the need for statutory intervention.

We are looking for experienced, passionate and skilled practitioners to join us as Senior Youth & Family Practitioners, working with children, young people and families facing complex challenges.

About The Role

As a Senior Youth & Family Practitioner, you will take a lead role in supporting children and families through evidence-based, trauma-informed and systemic practice. You will work alongside families to build on strengths, reduce risks and create sustainable change.

You will act as a Lead Practitioner for Family Help cases, undertake complex assessments, coordinate multi-agency support and deliver targeted interventions that improve outcomes for children and young people.

The role also includes supporting colleagues through coaching and reflective practice, developing community partnerships and leading interventions for children and young people at risk of exploitation, serious youth violence, anti-social behaviour and other vulnerabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Lead Practitioner for Family Help cases.
  • Complete assessments and develop outcome-focused family plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions with children, young people and families.
  • Work systemically with families and wider support networks.
  • Support children to remain safely within their family networks wherever possible.
  • Lead and coordinate multi-agency plans and interventions.
  • Develop and deliver group programmes and community-based activities.
  • Respond to emerging risks including exploitation, anti-social behaviour and serious youth violence.
  • Build strong partnerships with schools, community organisations and other agencies.
  • Support and coach colleagues, promoting high-quality practice.
  • Ensure children's voices are heard and central to decision-making.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and case recording.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
