About MENT4
MENT4 is a youth mentoring organisation supporting young people across Croydon and South London. We work through trusted relationships, one-to-one mentoring, schools, community settings and creative programmes to help young people grow in confidence, develop emotional resilience, make positive choices and discover their purpose.
As MENT4 enters its next phase of growth, we are looking for an exceptional Senior Youth Mentor to become one of our leading frontline practitioners.
About the role
This is not a desk-based management role. You will spend the majority of your working week directly engaging young people through one-to-one mentoring, school-based provision, community activity, group interventions and MENT4 partner settings.
You will independently manage interventions from referral through to completion, maintain excellent safeguarding and reporting standards, represent MENT4 confidently with schools and professionals, and help strengthen mentoring practice across the organisation.
At MENT4, leadership doesn't mean moving away from young people. Our senior practitioners lead from the frontline.
Key responsibilities
You will:
- Deliver high-quality, relationship-based one-to-one mentoring.
- Manage a varied caseload across schools, community and referral-based settings.
- Develop and deliver structured mentoring interventions, typically lasting 16–24 weeks.
- Facilitate small-group mentoring, youth-development activities and workshops.
- Maintain high-quality case notes, progress reviews and closure reports.
- Communicate professionally with schools, social workers, parents/carers and other agencies.
- Maintain excellent safeguarding and contextual safeguarding practice.
- Represent MENT4 independently within schools and community settings.
- Model excellent practice and provide informal support to developing Youth Mentors.
- Contribute to MENT4's training, resources, programme development, evaluation and wider organisational development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
