Senior/Account Manager – Medical Communications
London, Macclesfield or remote options
We are supporting a highly regarded, growing healthcare communications agency with the appointment of an Account Manager and a Senior Account Manager. This is a great opportunity to join an established team working across complex disease areas and delivering high-quality medical communications programmes for leading pharmaceutical and healthcare clients.
The organisation combines scientific and strategic expertise to help clients make informed decisions.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Med Comms professional who enjoys combining client leadership, strategic thinking, team management and commercial responsibility.
The Opportunity
You will take a leading role in managing client relationships and motivating account teams to deliver high-quality projects across the full spectrum of medical communications.
You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard, while developing trusted client relationships and identifying opportunities for account growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate client service teams, providing regular coaching, support and performance feedback.
- Take ownership of client relationships, team performance and account resourcing.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, acting as a primary point of contact where appropriate.
- Develop and identify opportunities for organic account growth aligned with client objectives and strategies.
- Interpret and challenge client briefs before translating them effectively for internal teams.
- Establish effective cross-functional teamwork to ensure projects are delivered on time, to budget and to client expectations.
- Provide a strong commercial perspective across allocated accounts.
- Lead and contribute to client meetings, including on-site meetings where required.
- Contribute to the development and regular review of account plans, forecasts and KPIs.
- Support and lead RFI/EFP responses and participate in pitches where appropriate.
- Work closely with internal teams to develop accurate project specifications and budgets.
- Review Statements of Work and provide best-practice leadership around budget tracking and financial management.
- Communicate confidently across the organisation, including with senior leadership.
- Mentor and support Account Managers, Account Executives and Coordinators.

About You
- A strong understanding of the Med Comms industry, including product lifecycles and the range of medical communications deliverables.
- Strong therapy area knowledge and the ability to engage confidently with scientific and strategic content.
- Excellent project and financial management skills.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Previous leadership and/or people management experience.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to delivery.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- A strategic mindset, with the ability to see both the detail and the bigger picture.
- The ability to work autonomously while remaining collaborative and team-focused.
- A genuine interest in industry developments and a commitment to continued learning.
- Willingness to travel for on-site events
