Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Associate Cost Manager

Location: London / South East, Hybrid Working

Sector: Energy, Infrastructure & Utilities

Salary: Up to £85,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Benefits

Carriera is working with an established construction consultancy looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Associate Cost Manager to strengthen its growing infrastructure and energy offering.

This is a specialist opportunity focused predominantly on the post contract delivery of major power and energy infrastructure projects, with particular emphasis on battery energy storage, electrical infrastructure, civils and utilities.

The projects form part of the UK's continued investment into improving the resilience and efficiency of the national energy network. You will work on schemes designed to draw power from the grid, store energy and release it during periods of peak demand.

This would suit a commercially strong Quantity Surveyor who understands complex infrastructure projects and wants to build their career within one of the fastest growing areas of the construction market.

Responsibilities

  • Provide post contract cost management across major energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Manage commercial delivery across civils, electrical and utilities packages.
  • Assess and agree valuations, variations and change.
  • Prepare regular cost reports and commercial forecasts.
  • Manage contractor applications and payment recommendations.
  • Monitor project expenditure against agreed budgets.
  • Support the commercial management of major construction packages.
  • Identify commercial risk and advise clients on appropriate mitigation.
  • Manage contractual correspondence and commercial records.
  • Support procurement and contract administration where required.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts.
  • Work closely with clients, contractors, engineers and wider project teams.
  • Provide clear commercial advice throughout project delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
