Contract Role – Senior/Lead AI Software Engineer Java & Python x 2 – London/Hybrid – 12 months initial – Inside IR35 PAYE

Role Overview:

  • Job Title: Senior/Lead AI Software Engineer Java & Python
  • Location: Hybrid – 4 days onsite per week in London
  • Contract Type: Contract
  • Duration: 12 months initial
  • Rate: £843.88 - 1000 per day Inside IR35

Job Description:

  • Strong Java and Python development skills in mission-critical applications required.
  • Proven experience building AI-based solutions in enterprise environments, including both machine learning and generative AI use cases, is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of how AI can be applied to accelerate software development processes and improve engineering productivity is required.
  • Familiarity with modern AI frameworks, tooling, and deployment patterns for enterprise environments is highly desirable.
  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience, required.

Responsibilities:

  • Sr. Specialist Developer consults with internal business groups to provide application software development services and technical support aligned to business priorities.
  • A core focus of the role is to design, build and deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions, including machine learning and generative AI capabilities, that solve meaningful business problems and accelerate innovation.
  • Identifies, prototypes, and deploys AI-enabled solutions aligned to business needs and implementation priorities.
  • Takes a lead role in establishing, implementing, and monitoring AI-led engineering best practices, development methodologies, and tools to improve engineering productivity, enhance solution quality, and increase delivery speed across the engineering lifecycle.
  • Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions and contributes to the achievement of area objectives.
  • Analyzes, defines, and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware, and operating system environments, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using the company’s standard development methodology.
  • Works with internal business groups to evaluate implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements across a range of applications.
  • Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining timetables and project plans.
  • Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs.
  • Works closely with stakeholders to understand business problems and translate them into practical, scalable, and supportable technology solutions.
  • Contributes to the evaluation of solution options, technical design approaches, and implementation strategies, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, controls, and long-term maintainability.
  • Supports the adoption of modern engineering practices and promotes a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and AI-led development.
