🚨 Hiring: Senior/Lead Backend Engineer | London | Up to £150k Total Comp
I'm working with a well-funded deep-tech startup that's building technology with genuine real-world impact for good, and they're looking for a Sr/Lead Backend Engineer to build and own their backend function from the ground up.
You'll be joining at a pivotal stage, taking a research-led product and scaling it into a resilient, production-grade platform.
Responsibilities:
- Architect a cloud-native backend on GCP
- Work closely with robotics and computer vision engineers
- Build scalable APIs for edge devices
- Establish engineering best practices, CI/CD and backend culture
- Design highly available, low-latency systems where reliability is mission-critical

Essential skills:
- Python
- C++ or another low level programming language
- Experience working on Data intensive or realtime systems
- 5-10 years of experience in Software Engineering focusing on Backend and System Architecture
Desirable:
- Proven track record working with high-frequency time-series data and ideally managing fleets of edge devices (IoT/Robotics).
- Resilience: Experience designing and maintaining highly resilient, low-latency systems where uptime is critical.

💰 Up to £150k total compensation (salary + equity)
