This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Competition Lawyer to join TLT's growing Competition, Regulatory & Trade team.

In addition to competition, there will be opportunities to support on a broad range of regulatory matters, providing exposure to a diverse and multidisciplinary practice.

Recognised by The Legal 500, our Competition team advises a broad range of UK and international clients on complex, high-profile and strategic competition matters. The team is led by Partner, Miles Trower, alongside fellow Partners, Richard Collie and Stuart Murray.

We operate national service lines and work on the basis that the best-placed lawyer supports the client, meaning your client base is not limited by geography. As a result, this role can be based in Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow or London, with the benefit of our flexible, hybrid working approach.

  • Advising clients on a wide range of antitrust matters, from merger control work to (market and targeted) investigations and disputes, as well as behavioural advice, compliance training and associated support.
  • Undertaking National Security and Investment Act analyses and notifications.
  • Seeking new work opportunities and reinforcing existing client relationships through targeted marketing, business development and client care initiatives.
  • Knowledge-sharing and working as part of a cross-office collegiate team, including assisting with the supervision of more junior lawyers.

Your Skills and Experience

You will be/have:

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered) (or equivalent) with circa 5-10PQE. We welcome applications from candidates who fall outside of this range, where they can demonstrate the required skills and expertise.
  • A good level of experience across two or more areas of the antitrust spectrum covering; merger control, competition investigations, disputes, compliance programs, behavioural advice, National Security and Investment Act analyses and notifications, compliance programmes and training.
  • Broader regulatory experience (e.g. within consumer protection investigations and/or the Digital Markets Competition and Consumers Act), or a willingness to multi-skill, would be valuable.
  • A forward thinker, able to demonstrate first class communication skills with the ability and confidence to engage with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • A proven track record in business development and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Able to develop a deep understanding of clients' businesses and objectives, acting in the best interests of both the firm and the client.
  • Committed to contributing to our friendly and collaborative culture, with an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members.
