I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Offshore cable routing is inherently multi-disciplinary, and applications are welcomed from professionals with backgrounds in geospatial consultancy, subsea engineering, geotechnical engineering, or engineering geology. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in geoscience, GIS, or subsea engineering, alongside industry experience in offshore cable routing using tools.
Experience contributing to CBRA or Depth of Lowering assessments, analysing geotechnical and geospatial datasets, and working within collaborative project teams is essential. This role suits someone technically confident, proactive, and keen to influence complex offshore projects from concept through delivery—while developing both people and capability within a growing marine engineering environment.
