The Opportunity
You’re a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer who wants to lead projects and have a clear influence on how they’re delivered. At Stantec, you’ll join our Buildings team in London, working across multidisciplinary projects from early feasibility through to construction. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment where civil engineering is fully integrated with other disciplines, giving you the opportunity to shape both design and delivery while developing your leadership.
About The Role
You will lead the development and delivery of civil engineering design solutions across a range of building projects, taking responsibility for technical quality, programme, and client outcomes. You’ll be involved from concept through to construction, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, and aligned with wider project objectives.
Your work will include the design of earthworks, drainage, roads, coordination of below ground utilities and external works, alongside the preparation of plans, reports, and technical submissions. You’ll liaise with local authorities and stakeholders to secure approvals, including highways and building applications, while maintaining strong communication with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Alongside technical delivery, you’ll contribute to project and commercial management—supporting fee proposals, defining scope, and managing programme—while mentoring junior engineers and supporting their development within the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
