Senior/Principal Electrical Design Engineer Building Services

Plymouth, Devon

Are you an experienced Electrical Design Engineer looking to take the next step in your career?

Our client, an established and highly regarded building services consultancy, is looking for a Senior/Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team in Plymouth.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys taking technical ownership of projects, working closely with clients and mentoring more junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the electrical design of a range of building services projects from concept through to completion.
  • Taking technical responsibility for projects and ensuring designs are delivered to a high standard.
  • Producing and reviewing electrical calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports.
  • Working closely with architects, mechanical engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • Managing client relationships and attending design and project meetings.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior and senior engineers.
  • Reviewing designs to ensure compliance with relevant British Standards, regulations and industry requirements.
  • Supporting project delivery, fee proposals and business development where appropriate.
  • Helping to develop and improve the electrical engineering team and its technical capabilities.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in electrical building services design.
  • Previous experience operating at Senior or Principal Engineer level.
  • Good knowledge of electrical building services systems, including LV distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms and small power.
  • Experience working on projects from concept through to detailed design.
  • Strong understanding of relevant British Standards and Building Regulations.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to lead projects and provide technical direction to others.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit would be highly desirable.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership would be advantageous.
