The Vacancy
RSK Ireland Ltd are seeking to recruit a highly experienced full-time Geoscientist currently working at Senior or Principal level to work in our Belfast office on a hybrid basis.
This opportunity is for a motivated and ambitious person with good interpersonal skills seeking to advance their career.
The Geosciences team within RSK Group is one of the UK and Ireland’s largest geotechnical and contaminated land consultancies with ambitious plans for growth. The Geosciences team provides consultancy and design services to both public and private sector organisations for a diverse range of projects including commercial and residential developments, infrastructure, utilities, transport, renewable energy, petrochemical and fuel retail companies. Our current workload includes major infrastructure projects, housing, warehousing & distribution developments and large scale remediation.
Responsibilities:
It is expected that as a Senior/Principal grade you will have a wider industry awareness and have strong client interface capabilities. You will have a project financial focus, be self-motivated, exhibit a proactive approach, and work well within a multi-disciplinary team environment. A primary role will be project management, overseeing work completed by third party contractors and mentoring junior staff.
More specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Managing projects including the production of high-quality interpretive reports, adhering to RSK procedures & completed within the given cost budgets and timescales agreed with the client.
- Mentoring staff and checking relevant technical reports.
- Design and management of site investigation works and projects in the sectors above.
- Effectively communicating with clients and colleagues to build strong working relationships with the aim of meeting and exceeding client expectations, and contributing to a strong team ethic.
- Manage projects to meet both commercial and technical requirements and working with technical and projects leads to deliver appropriate solutions wherever necessary.

Person Specification:
- BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related subject is essential.
- MSc in Contaminated Land, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering related subjects is desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience (10 years for Principal grade).
- Knowledge of contaminated land, waste and planning legislation in UK / Ireland.
- QGIS, ARCgis, CAD or similar data management/software knowledge is a significant advantage.
- Practical experience in designing, supervising and managing environmental site investigations, involving a variety of techniques such as rotary, dynamic/window sampling, trial pitting etc.
