Principal Fire Safety Engineer

Location: Glasgow or Edinburgh — hybrid working

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Company: BB7, a CERTANIA group company

Shape safer buildings. Lead work that matters.

BB7 is looking for an experienced Principal Fire Safety Engineer to strengthen our team in Scotland. This is a senior technical and client-facing role for someone who enjoys solving complex fire-safety challenges, setting a high standard of engineering judgement and helping colleagues develop.

Working from either our Glasgow or Edinburgh office on a hybrid basis, you will lead and contribute to a varied portfolio of projects. Your work will span fire strategies, technical design, fire-engineering analysis and modelling, and trusted client advisory support.

You will have the autonomy to lead significant projects, the credibility to influence decisions, and the support of a specialist team committed to practical, rigorous fire-safety advice.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the delivery of fire-safety engineering projects from early design through to completion.
  • Develop, review and sign off robust fire strategies and technical fire-safety advice.
  • Undertake and oversee fire-engineering analysis and modelling where appropriate.
  • Advise clients, design teams and stakeholders on complex fire-safety, compliance and risk issues.
  • Provide clear, proportionate recommendations that balance safety, technical quality and project realities.
  • Manage project scope, quality, programme, commercial performance and client relationships.
  • Review technical work, mentor engineers and support the development of the wider team.
  • Help strengthen BB7’s reputation as a trusted specialist adviser in fire safety.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
