The practice has wide-ranging experience across both public and private sector appointments, giving the team a strong, practical understanding of how the planning system operates. The consultancy provides a full range of planning services, including preparation of pre-application enquiries, planning applications, appeals and negotiations, masterplanning, and neighbourhood planning. Role Description
This full-time, on-site Senior/Principal Planner role is based in Bath and involves leading and managing a wide range of planning projects from inception to decision. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Preparing and coordinating planning applications, listed building applications
- Undertaking planning appraisals
- Providing clear planning advice to clients and stakeholders
- Handling planning appeals and negotiations
- Engaging with local authorities and other decision makers
- Contributing to neighbourhood planning and masterplanning projects
- Supporting Section 106 and CIL matters
- Managing community engagement activities
- Overseeing project management of multi-disciplinary teams to ensure timely, high-quality delivery

Qualifications
- Strong expertise in planning applications, planning appraisals, pre-application advice, and planning appeals and negotiations.
- Experience with neighbourhood planning, masterplanning, land promotion, and representations on behalf of neighbours and community stakeholders.
- Knowledge of local authority planning processes, including Section 106 agreements, CIL, and planning enforcement advice and appeals.
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams, including effective project management and client communication.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear reports, statements, and consultation materials.
- Relevant professional qualifications in town and country planning or a related discipline; MRTPI or eligibility for chartered status.
- Experience in UK planning policy and practice.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work independently and take responsibility for key projects.
