Principal Structural Engineer

Glasgow | Hybrid Working

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join a growing multidisciplinary consultancy with a strong pipeline of projects across the renewable energy, commercial, residential, and public sectors.

This role will suit a technically strong and collaborative engineer looking to take a lead role in the delivery of complex building structures projects while supporting and mentoring junior team members within a dynamic engineering environment.

The Role

You will play a key role in delivering structural solutions across a varied portfolio of projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams including MEP, architecture, and specialist consultants.

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Leading structural design delivery across steel, concrete, and masonry projects
  • Producing and reviewing structural calculations and technical drawings
  • Coordinating BIM/CAD outputs and multidisciplinary design information
  • Attending client, design, and coordination meetings
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and technicians
  • Contributing to sustainable and low-carbon design solutions
  • Carrying out occasional site visits and technical inspections

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or IStructE)
  • Strong experience in structural design using steel and concrete
  • Experience with Tekla Structural Designer and related software
  • Background delivering building structures projects within the UK
  • Understanding of portal frame design and industrial/energy projects desirable
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams
