Senior Transport Planner: London / Surrey (Hybrid)
Location: London/ Surrey
Salary: GBP40,000/GBP50,000
Penguin Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading UK consultancy in the search for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of development projects across the UK while benefiting from a hybrid working environment based in London or Surrey.
Our client specialises in transport planning and infrastructure design across a wide variety of sectors, including residential, retail, leisure, office, distribution, industrial, education, healthcare, and mixed-use developments. Your responsibilities

Conduct
- Transport assessments
- Transport statements
- Feasibility studies for a range of development projects

You Will Also
- Manage transport modelling and travel plans
- Contribute to highway design input
- Coordinate with drainage and flood risk specialists
- Prepare technical reports
- Present findings to clients and stakeholders
- Provide expert advice during meetings, consultations and public inquiries
- Mentor junior team members
- Support project management activities
- Contribute to bids and proposals
- Maintain strong client relationships to ensure high-quality project delivery
Requirements
- Strong experience in transport planning, including the delivery of transport assessments, transport statements, and travel plans for development projects.
- Proficiency in transport modelling and related analytical tools, with the ability to interpret data and provide practical recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills, including technical report writing, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
- Degree (or equivalent) in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
- Professional accreditation with CIHT, TPS, ICE, or working towards accreditation is highly desirable.
- Experience with UK transport policy, design standards, and development planning processes, including liaison with local authorities and public bodies.
- Competence with relevant software, including junction and network modelling, GIS, and MS Office.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a hybrid working environment, with excellent organisational skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
