As our portfolio of high-voltage infrastructure projects continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Senior / Principal Protection & Control Engineer to join our expanding team.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a senior technical leadership role, influencing the delivery of nationally significant projects while helping to shape the future of our Protection & Control capability. You'll work alongside highly experienced engineers, mentor the next generation of talent and play a key role in growing both our technical expertise and client portfolio.

About the Role

As a Senior / Principal Protection & Control Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across Protection & Control engineering activities, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality HV substation projects. You'll be responsible for maintaining technical excellence, developing engineering capability and supporting the continued growth of Kelvin Power within the Transmission & Distribution sector.

You'll combine strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness, client engagement and leadership skills to deliver innovative engineering solutions while supporting the wider strategic objectives of Kelvin Power and VINCI Energies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across Protection & Control engineering and HV substation design projects.
  • Act as a technical checker, approver and governance lead for engineering deliverables.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Protection & Control engineers and designers.

  • Support the growth of Kelvin Power's capability in Protection & Control, SCADA, cyber security, substation design and emerging technologies such as HVDC.
  • Lead client engagement, prepare technical proposals and support the successful delivery of new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to business development activities.
  • Provide specialist technical expertise across the wider VINCI Energies group, including collaboration with Omexom and other business units.
  • Drive innovation by implementing new technologies, engineering practices and design solutions.
  • Represent Kelvin Power at industry conferences, technical forums and working groups, promoting our expertise within the energy sector.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
