Job Purpose

The SEO Account Director will lead the strategic and operational direction of SYZYGY's organic search portfolio. This is a senior client-leadership role for someone who can turn complex SEO, AEO and performance data into a clear business narrative, lead high-value stakeholder conversations and create the conditions for the wider team to deliver to a consistently high standard.

  • Set a joined-up SEO and AEO strategy across technical, content, authority and AI-search visibility, ensuring activity is connected to client priorities and commercial outcomes.
  • Translate broad business objectives and stakeholder requests into a prioritised roadmap with clear KPIs, forecasts, owners, deadlines and expected value.
  • Lead performance reviews and strategic presentations, turning data into a concise story: what changed, why it matters, what should happen next and where investment should move.
  • Shape the client’s AEO approach, including how LLMs retrieve, cite and interpret content, and convert prompt, citation, visibility and sentiment data into practical recommendations.
  • Use data and forecasting to identify opportunities, diagnose performance and demonstrate commercial impact.
  • Partner with paid media, analytics, product, engineering, content, PR and social teams to solve cross-channel search challenges and unlock implementation.

Client Leadership & Commercial Management

  • Act as the senior day-to-day organic search lead, owning key relationships and leading calls with senior and C-suite stakeholders.
  • Own portfolio health, resourcing and commercial growth, including scoping, change control, retention and upsell opportunities.
  • Build client confidence through clear communication, proactive problem-solving and constructive challenge.
  • Reduce dependency on the Head of Organic by taking ownership of routine account leadership and decision-making.

Skillsets

  • Advanced understanding of on-page SEO, content optimisation and E-E-A-T principles, with the ability to review detailed recommendations, identify gaps and ensure outputs are implementation-ready.
  • Strong strategic and practical knowledge of GEO and AI-driven search, including how LLMs retrieve, cite and interpret content, and how prompt, citation, visibility and sentiment data can inform optimisation.
  • Strong understanding of wider digital disciplines and how paid media, analytics, content, PR, social, product and engineering interact with organic search.
  • Advanced reporting and analytical capability, focused on identifying the causes of
  • Strong knowledge of organic measurement, including KPI design, forecasting, attribution limitations and connecting activity to business outcomes.
  • Ability to operate at a detailed technical, content and analytical level when required, while maintaining a broader strategic view.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
