SEO Manager
We’re looking for an experienced, collaborative SEO Manager with a passion for Digital Marketing to join our team. You’ll be well versed in the world of SEO, AEO & AI and looking to utilise your knowledge and skill set by leading across these areas. A confident communicator, collaborative team player, SEO enthusiast who is looking to work with a great team would be very welcome.
You’ll sit within the Digital Marketing & Trading team and be responsible for managing the SEO channel alongside both our SEO & SEO Local agencies. The role will require cross functional working with other teams in Digital & Marketing, including our Trading, Digital Experience, Development & PR teams, ensuring we are best in class when it comes to our SEO strategy and output.
What you’ll be doing:
- Working closely with key stakeholders to ensure we are always producing high quality SEO, AEO and AI friendly content in an effective and strategic manner
- Effectively construct and communicate the workstreams within the channel to the wider Wickes team
- Managing the prioritisation of the SEO agency workload, ensuring we are maximising our output in line with achieving the Digital team objectives
- Influential with decision making across the whole digital team to ensure SEO/AEO/AI remains at the forefront within the Digital strategy
- Ensuring our website is technically sound through maintaining general technical health checks alongside our agency and development teams
- Building & maintaining a close relationship with our Local SEO agency, ensuring we are maximising our local visibility in the SERP and identifying other potential opportunities to assist in driving improvements in the channel
- Constantly checking search terms, rankings and analytics to monitor performance of the Wickes website and make recommendations for improvement
- Working with the Paid Search team to create a harmonious environment for both SEO & PPC to deliver a successful search strategy
- Keeping up to date with SEO best practice/impact of Google algorithm updates alongside Summit
- Working closely with our agency and Digital & Trading Analytics team to create robust reporting & channel opportunity/development plans through the utilisation of the Google stack (predominantly Google Analytics, Google Search Console and Searchable)
- Proactively utilising data driven insights to drive action
- Primary stakeholder for analysing and reporting on performance alongside agency
- Responsible for management of Local SEO listings and optimisations alongside agencies
- Establish as the SME through building relationships across the multiple internal and external stakeholders that are a part of SEO workstreams
- Conduct on-site and off-site analysis of web SEO competition

What we’re looking for:
To be successful in the role, we’d expect you to have around 4+ years experience of developing SEO strategies to maximise SERP visibility and rank opportunity through transactional and non transactional content optimisation. You’ll have Agency management experience and excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to build relationships. As well as this you’ll:
- Have proven experience of working as an SEO manager with a detailed understanding of SEO
- Have experience of working with Google web analytics tools (Google Analytics and Google Search Console)
- Be a self starter that can work under tight deadlines
- Have excellent written communication and copywriting skills
- Possess strong project management and organisational skills
