SEO Specialist
We’re seeking an exceptional SEO Specialist to join our SEO team, offering the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of clients across various sectors. The SEO Specialist will take the lead on a larger number of accounts, drive strategy independently, and run client calls with confidence.
This is a full-time role based in our Nottingham or Manchester office. We offer flexible working with two days WFH and three days in the office.
Starting salary: £29,000 depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
Account Leadership & Strategy
- Take the lead on a portfolio of SEO accounts, owning strategy, delivery, and performance outcomes
- Develop and drive SEO strategies independently, with oversight from the SEO Manager or SEO Lead.
- Lead client calls and meetings with confidence, acting as the primary SEO point of contact for accounts you manage
- Proactively identify opportunities and risks across accounts, bringing strategic recommendations to clients
- Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting, providing clear, insightful commentary on performance and next steps
Delegation & Team Collaboration
- Delegate appropriate tasks to the Technical SEO Specialist, providing clear briefs and reviewing outputs
- Collaborate closely with the wider SEO and agency team, contributing to a positive and knowledge-sharing culture
- Assist with onboarding new team members where required
SEO Delivery
- Manage SEO projects and support delivery across a wide range of client accounts
- Audit website architecture and design, ensuring best practices across URL structure, sitemaps, navigation, and internal linking
- Conduct technical analyses to identify issues such as crawl errors, JavaScript rendering and indexing problems, page cannibalisation, and website performance limitations
- Carry out page speed and performance audits to identify improvement opportunities
- Work closely with developers to ensure SEO best practices are implemented on new and existing websites
- Develop and deliver SEO-optimised content strategies aligned with client KPIs
- Explore and implement schema markup and structured data opportunities
- Assist with site migrations, identifying risks and ensuring best-practice processes are followed
Reporting & Analytics
- Use tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs and other SEO platforms to monitor and report on performance
- Translate data into clear, actionable insight for clients and internal stakeholders
- Develop prioritised action plans for audits and research tasks, clearly outlining rationale and expected impact

Industry Awareness & Thought Leadership
- Stay on top of SEO developments and algorithm updates, sharing relevant insights with the team on a regular basis
- Identify opportunities to increase visibility for brands in AI search and emerging channels
- Contribute to Tank's thought leadership through blog posts, LinkedIn, internal training sessions, or external events
- Attend industry conferences or webinars and share learnings with the wider team
New Business Support
- Contribute creative ideas, research, and strategic input to new business pitches when required
- Help develop pitch materials that demonstrate Tank's SEO capabilities and approach
Skills & Experience
- Experience in an SEO specialist role, ideally within an agency environment
- Solid technical SEO knowledge, including crawl analysis, on-page optimisation, and site auditing
- Confidence in client-facing communication, including running calls and presenting recommendations
- Proficiency in tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs
- A proactive, strategic mindset with the ability to identify and act on opportunities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Awareness of AI search trends and their impact on SEO strategy
- Organised and able to manage workload effectively across a varied client portfolio

- You are consistently leading calls and client communications independently
- Tasks delegated are well-briefed, timely, and returned to a high standard
