SEO Specialist & Content Writer

About the Role
A leading higher education organisation is seeking an SEO Specialist & Content Writer to develop and execute its organic search strategy while creating high-quality, engaging, and search-optimised content.
The role will focus on increasing online visibility, driving qualified organic website traffic, generating prospective student enquiries, and supporting broader student recruitment objectives. Combining technical SEO expertise with strong content creation and analytical skills, the successful candidate will optimise the organisation's digital presence and ensure content aligns with the needs and search intent of prospective students.
Working closely with marketing, academic, and other internal stakeholders, the role will develop SEO and content initiatives supporting undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programme recruitment.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute SEO strategies to improve organic search visibility and performance
- Conduct regular technical SEO audits and identify opportunities for improvement
- Carry out keyword research, competitor analysis, and content gap analysis
- Create, edit, and optimise high-quality, search-focused content
- Develop and implement content strategies aligned with audience needs and search intent
- Monitor SEO and content performance using analytics and reporting tools
- Translate data and insights into actionable recommendations
- Optimise website performance, UX, and mobile experience
- Collaborate with marketing, academic, and cross-functional stakeholders on digital initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrable experience in SEO, digital marketing, and content creation
- Strong knowledge of technical, on-page, and off-page SEO
- Experience developing SEO strategies, conducting keyword research, competitor analysis, and SEO audits
- Excellent copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills
- Experience with Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Screaming Frog
- Experience working with CMS platforms such as WordPress
- Good understanding of Core Web Vitals, website performance, UX, and mobile optimisation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into practical recommendations
- Excellent communication, organisation, project management, and stakeholder management skills
