The Role You Could Play
The SEO Specialist will drive the implementation of effective changes to grow MECCA’s presence across traditional and agentic search. Reporting to the Search & Discovery Manager, the role will identify growth opportunities, provide meaningful insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders in line with best practice, working closely with eCommerce Trade to deliver trade objectives, Product to deliver technical improvements, and Content. You will provide meaningful insights and recommendations, whilst continuously unlocking opportunities to surprise and delight our customers through innovation and bringing to life the “MECCA Magic”.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Search & Discovery Manager to deliver SEO/AEO/GEO strategy.
- Support setting performance benchmarks and achieving KPIs.
- Report on overall organic search performance and deliver meaningful insights.
- Coordinate delivery of SEO/AEO/GEO activity with internal stakeholders and cross-functional collaborators, including wider eCommerce team, Content team, and Product team.
- Closely collaborate with paid performance channels to deliver a holistic search strategy.
- Manage and optimise MECCA’s store listing presence, across Google, Bing, Apple, etc, including updates to store hours, etc.
- Support the identification of data driven trends and insights to assist with content development through content gap analysis and competitor review.
- Conduct technical audits to identify opportunities and provide best practice recommendations to developers.
- Conduct competitor analysis to establish areas of opportunity and growth for the business.
- Produce content calendars and article briefs to support creation of optimised content in line with search opportunities and seasonal trends.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to internal teams to strengthen internal SEO/AEO/GEO knowledge and capabilities.
- Assist the wider business by providing best practice recommendations for ad hoc requests.

What You Will Bring
You are a proactive, go-getter who is willing to do what it takes to make things happen but equally can apply a strategic lens to ensure you are operating efficiently. You have the ability to prioritise and work under pressure to deliver to multiple stakeholders whilst managing expectations and influencing outcomes. You are analytical, logical and can use data and insights to help with your problem solving and decision-making. You are optimistic, have a positive attitude, are considerate, respectful and empathetic. As a solution focused individual, you will have proactive approach to identifying opportunities to improve, develop new ideas and provide solutions.
In addition, the successful candidate will also have the following skills and experience:
- Strong understanding of SEO best practices.
- Understanding of AEO/GEO tactics.
- Ability to clearly define SEO requirements to a wide range of audiences, including content authors, developers, etc.
- Experience working with Paid Search to deliver holistic SEO/SEM strategies.
- Experience using analytical tools to report on search performance and derive actionable insights (Google Analytics 4 desirable).
- Experience with using a content management system (Sitecore desirable).
- Excellent knowledge of search related tools such as Screaming Frog, Search Console, Google Business Profile, Keyword Planner, SEMRush, etc.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, project management, and time management skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A proactive approach to identifying opportunities to improve, developing new ideas, and providing solutions.
