SEO / AEO / GEO Specialist
Contract Permanent, full time
Salary £50,000 - £60,000, dependent on experience
Role Purpose:
Organic search is changing faster than at any point in the last decade. A growing share of the questions our customers ask are now answered inside AI systems often without a click reaching our sites at all. Ranking and being cited have come apart: appearing in the top ten no longer reliably means appearing in the answer. This role owns organic visibility across both worlds. You will run a strong technical and content SEO programme across the group’s brands and build the capability to be found, cited and recommended by AI answer engines. This is a role for someone who has mastered SEO and is already operating at the frontier of AI search visibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical SEO
- Own technical health across the group’s sites - crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals and page performance.
- Run regular technical audits and maintain a prioritised backlog of fixes, working with development to get them shipped.
- Implement and maintain structured data across the estate, and keep it accurate as sites change.
- Manage crawler access deliberately - including how AI crawlers and retrieval agents are permitted to access our content, and the commercial trade-offs in those decisions.
Content and on-page
- Own keyword and entity strategy across brands, built around commercial intent rather than volume.
- Ability to write briefs and work either independently or across a team to produce pages that rank, convert and can be cited.
- Work closely with the in-house Creative, Content, UI/UX and Performance teams to ensure organic content, landing page design and paid activity are aligned - from keyword strategy and page structure through to visual design and messaging.
- Run a continuous programme of content refreshes, consolidation and pruning.
- Ensure our content states things clearly and self-contained - well-structured, factually precise claims that a model can extract and attribute correctly.
Answer and generative engine optimisation (AEO / GEO)
- Build and own our approach to visibility inside AI answer engines.
- Maintain consistent, accurate entity information about our brands across the sources these systems draw on.
- Run structured prompt-set testing to monitor where and how our brands appear, how we are described, and where competitors are cited instead.
- Influence the third-party sources models rely on - review platforms, trade press, forums, comparison sites and reference data - working with PR and content.
- Track and correct misrepresentation: what these systems say about our brands is now a commercial and reputational issue, not just a marketing one.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Measurement and reporting
- Build the measurement framework for AI search from scratch. There is no Search Console equivalent, and defining what we count and how is a substantial part of this role.
- Report on citation share, referral traffic from AI platforms, branded search lift and assisted conversions - not rankings in isolation.
- Connect organic performance through to lead volume and lead quality in the CRM, so the channel is judged commercially.
- Give the leadership team an honest read on what is working, what is uncertain, and what we do not yet know how to measure.
Group and compliance
- Manage organic performance across multiple brands and entities, including local search and business profiles where relevant.
- Work within regulatory constraints for our regulated entities - content for financial services must be clear, fair and not misleading, and requires compliance sign-off.
- Collaborate with paid media, UI/UX and CRO so organic traffic lands on pages built to convert - sharing keyword insight and user intent data to inform landing page design and conversion optimisation.
What You Will Walk Into:
TGG operates a portfolio of high-volume consumer brands across financial services, legal and automotive finance, including Ask Rose, Allegiant Financial, Car Finance 4U, HD Law and Reverse Life. The paid media engine is well-established and generating significant traffic, primarily via Meta and other digital paid media channels, supported by direct mail and call centres; organic search has not had dedicated specialist ownership until now. There is no established AEO or GEO programme - this is genuinely greenfield work. You will inherit access to the core SEO toolstack, a set of brand sites with varying levels of technical health, and a content operation that produces at pace but has not been optimised for organic or AI search visibility. You will work alongside in-house performance marketing, content, creative, UI/UX, CRO and development teams - a full-service internal capability that most businesses at this stage do not have. The measurement framework for AI search visibility does not yet exist here, and building it will be one of the most visible early deliverables in the role. There is strong appetite at senior level to invest in this channel and move at pace.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- A demonstrable track record of 5+ years across multiple businesses /brands growing organic performance, with evidence of commercial impact rather than traffic alone.
- Strong technical SEO capability, including hands-on use of crawling tools such as Screaming Frog or Sitebulb, and Google Search Console.
- Practical experience implementing structured data and schema markup.
- Confident with the major SEO platforms (Ahrefs, Semrush or equivalent) and with GA4.
- A genuine working understanding of how AI answer engines retrieve, synthesise and cite content, and how that differs from classical ranking.
- Evidence of active experimentation in AI search - testing, measuring and drawing conclusions, whether in a previous role or independently.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to build a measurement approach where no standard one exists.
- Clear written communication, and the confidence to explain an uncertain, fast-moving discipline honestly to senior stakeholders.
