Role overview

The Technical & Strategic SEO/GEO Lead owns client search performance, technical site health, and strategic roadmaps across both search engine results pages and generative AI platforms. This role ensures client websites are technically accessible to search engines and LLM crawlers while setting the strategy for increased brand visibility and conversions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Take overall responsibility for the SEO & AEO service for our clients
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the clients business, how SEO will be able to help them to achieve their objectives, and communicate this in a clear way that is meaningful to the client
  • Analyse market trends, competitor positioning, and search demand to design annual SEO and GEO campaign plans for clients.
  • Run technical audits covering crawlability, indexation, site speed, Core Web Vitals, schema markup, and site architecture, taking ownership of all site health metrics
  • Manage access and directives for AI bots through robots.txt, header tags, and server rules.
  • Build structured data and knowledge graph connections, implementing relevant schema across our clients websites.
  • Define keyword strategy, topic clusters, URL structures, and page taxonomy across client websites, working with our SEO Content Manager to map out content strategies.
  • Run monthly performance reports, taking ownership of configuring Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager and GEO visibility tools.
  • Write clear technical briefs for developers, test fixes, and work with the website team to manage complex tasks like site migrations.
  • Attend client meetings, presenting strategies or reviewing campaign performance.

Required experience:

  • Advanced understanding of crawlability, indexation, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, and page speed performance.
  • Deep working knowledge of structured data, canonicalisation, server status codes, and robots.txt directives.
  • Experience with SEO tools including Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console and AI visibility tracking platforms
  • Experience working either in an agency on multiple projects or the ability to demonstrate managing multiple projects and stakeholders at one time.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary range: £35,000-£45,000 depending on experience
