Head, spinal cord and other serious injuries, such as those resulting in amputation, blindness and orthopaedic treatment, can be life changing. Serious injuries affect our clients in different ways such as their family life, employment opportunities, healthcare needs and everyday quality of life. These claims are by nature hugely traumatic and have to be handled with the utmost care and expertise. Our serious injury solicitors pride themselves on making a real difference and we can help clients to live their life as fully as possible after a serious injury. We have years of experience helping people claim compensation for serious injuries and have specialist teams across the UK.

This is a hybrid role, working 3 days per week in our Leeds office.

You'll be joining Partner Sion Kingston and his team in the Leeds Personal Injury department.

Sion heads a successful team specialising in road traffic accident, workplace accident and public liability claims, who manage diverse caseloads involving a wide range of injury types and claim values. He also leads the firm's Personal Injury Professional Negligence team, advising clients on claims against solicitors and barristers arising from the negligent handling of personal injury and clinical negligence matters.

Role Description

As a Paralegal you will play an integral role in the team, working together with qualified fee earners to provide legal support on a number of cases to deliver an outstanding client experience. You will be responsible for ensuring that client queries are dealt with quickly, efficiently and with empathy, taking appropriate actions. You will work independently under supervision and as part of a team to progress cases in accordance with the department’s procedures to meet agreed personal targets.

You’ll liaise regularly with a wide range of clients and medical professionals, in person, over the phone and in writing. Whether arranging meetings, seeking medical reports and chasing information, you’ll need to show a sensitive and professional approach at all times.

Your role will involve, but is not limited to:

  • Assisting fee earners to progress cases both from a legal and rehabilitation perspective. As part of this you will liaise with clients, review documents, help with witness statements, attend client meetings, conferences and joint settlement meetings.
  • Achieve time recording and fee income targets to ensure profitable working.
  • Attend and contribute to team/practice area meetings and comply with directions/decisions made to ensure team objectives achieved.
  • Keep up to date with changes in relevant law and practice and attend appropriate training events to ensure up to date legal knowledge and best practice.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrable Paralegal experience (Personal Injury/Serious Injury experience would be desirable)
  • A genuine interest in Serious Injury work.
  • Holds a law degree
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to show empathy and compassion when supporting clients through sensitive and often challenging circumstances.
  • Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to handle telephone calls professionally and provide clear, courteous advice.
  • The ability to interact with clients and external organisations
  • A positive, proactive and can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team, supporting colleagues and contributing to shared caseloads.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
