Server and Cloud Engineer
Corporate IT is recruiting a Server and Cloud Engineer to join the Server and Cloud team. The role forms part of the wider Corporate IT function, supporting services, platforms and projects across Synnovis and other SYNLAB UK business units. While the role is based from the Synnovis office in Blackfriars, the successful candidate will work across a diverse technology estate supporting colleagues and services throughout the wider organisation. Occasional travel to other business locations may be required.
This is a technically varied role supporting modern server, cloud and associated infrastructure platforms. The successful candidate will help maintain secure, reliable and well-documented services whilst contributing to service improvements, project delivery and the transition of new technologies into business-as-usual support.
Key Requirements
We are looking for someone with strong technical experience, good operational discipline and a practical approach to service improvement. The role would suit someone who is comfortable working with cloud platforms, Windows Server environments, Microsoft Azure, identity and access management, monitoring, automation, documentation, incident resolution and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across Corporate IT, including Network, M365 and Modern Workplace teams, alongside Service Desk, End User Technology, Cyber Security teams and business stakeholders. The role will also involve working with a range of Managed Service Providers and technology partners, helping to ensure suppliers deliver services in line with operational requirements, security standards and business expectations.

As part of a geographically distributed team, the successful candidate will contribute to the standardisation, documentation and continual improvement of services across the organisation. They will be expected to share knowledge, support operational resilience and help deliver secure, scalable and supportable technology solutions that meet the needs of a growing and evolving business.
The Server and Cloud Team
The Server and Cloud team forms part of the wider Corporate IT function, delivering server, cloud and infrastructure services across Synnovis and other SYNLAB UK business units. Working as part of a geographically distributed team, you will collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to support shared platforms, deliver projects and maintain business-critical services. The role is based from the Synnovis office in Blackfriars, with occasional travel to other business locations as required. Business travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with company policy.
Corporate IT is currently undergoing a period of transformation and modernisation, with continued investment in cloud technologies, identity services, infrastructure platforms and security capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad technology estate, supporting both operational services and strategic initiatives that help standardise and improve technology services across the wider organisation.
As a Server and Cloud Engineer
As a Server and Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting, monitoring, managing, documenting and maintaining server, cloud and associated infrastructure platforms. You will work closely with colleagues across Corporate IT, including Network, M365 and Modern Workplace teams, alongside Service Desk, End User Technology, Cyber Security teams, business stakeholders and Managed Service Providers to ensure services are secure, resilient and aligned with business requirements.

You will contribute to the delivery of projects from design and implementation through to operational handover, helping ensure new technologies are effectively transitioned into business-as-usual support. You will also play an important role in maintaining accurate technical documentation, improving operational processes and building resilience across the wider team.

The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively, share knowledge and contribute to the continual improvement of services across Corporate IT, helping deliver secure, scalable and supportable technology solutions that meet the needs of a growing and evolving organisation.
