Position Overview:
We are seeking a Server & Infrastructure Engineer to join our server engineering team. In this role, you will work on core backend systems and backend services, contributing directly to live services and build systems with minimal supervision. You will help manage and expand our infrastructure, automated CI/CD pipelines, and development tools while collaborating closely with technical leads to build reliable, high-performing server environments. You will have a passion for large-scale high-availability systems, a devotion to software craftsmanship, an unwavering commitment to quality, and the desire to have their work seen by tens of millions of people worldwide.
What You'll Do:
- Server & Infrastructure Execution: Complete multi-day backend engineering tasks with minimal guidance. Design, deploy, and support scalable server architectures and cloud infrastructure.
- DevOps & Pipeline Automation: Build, maintain, and optimise robust CI/CD workflows and automated deployment pipelines across cloud environments and build platforms.
- Architecture & Planning: Participate in technical planning, architectural brainstorming, and technical cost/complexity estimation for multi-week efforts.
- Team Efficiency & Quality: Proactively identify workflow bottlenecks and drive initiatives to improve overall engineering team productivity, tooling, and code quality.
- Technical Communication: Participate in internal tech talks, share best practices, and maintain collaborative peer relationships across engineering squads.

What You Bring:
- Programming Languages: Demonstrated proficiency in Python, Go, and C# for backend services, automation scripts, and custom tooling.
- Cloud Infrastructure & IaC: Hands-on experience provisioning and managing AWS infrastructure using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).
- Build & Platform Systems: Experience configuring and managing automated orchestration/build platforms (e.g., Unreal Horde, Jenkins, or TeamCity), preferably with Game Engines (Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.).
- Source Control Management: Strong working knowledge of version control systems and workflow strategies (GitHub, Perforce/Helix Core, Git-flow, branch management).
- Work Execution: Proven ability to manage moderate-to-complex technical tasks independently, break down project deliverables, and communicate status accurately.
Bonus Points:
- Experience writing server-side logic and managing database dependencies for live applications or multiplayer services.
- Have worked in, or has a strong interest in the gaming industry.
- Interest in infrastructure deployment and monitoring.
- Interest in mentoring junior team members or interns, framing task deconstruction, and conducting technical interviews.
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure security best practices.
