About the Role
As Service Accountant you will operate from within one of the Directorate Financial Management teams and therefore play a key role in providing financial support to services and working with the Group Accountant to help set robust internal controls, all at a time of real economic challenge in the public sector. You will be proactive in providing high quality and informed financial advice at all levels to facilitate operational decision making – challenging and justifying decisions where necessary. In doing so, you’ll ensure we keep delivering for the people who call Hackney home.

Responsibilities
- Ensure the three main pillars of the annual budget cycle (budget setting, budget monitoring and closing of accounts) are completed for a range of services.
- Work with service managers to get the job done.
- Provide high quality and informed financial advice at all levels to facilitate operational decision making.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant, currently studying towards your professional qualifications, or have experience of working in an accounting environment within a large organisation.
