We are Hiring: Service Accountant – Adult Social Care
Location: Hackney, London (Hybrid)
Contract: Interim (Inside IR35)
Rate: £208.52 per day (Pre-AWR)
Job Summary
Hackney Council is seeking an experienced Service Accountant to join the Adult Social Care Finance team. The role will provide high-quality financial business partnering support to service managers, ensuring effective budget management, accurate forecasting, statutory compliance, and delivery of value-for-money services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial advice and support to Adult Social Care budget holders and senior managers.
- Lead budget setting, budget monitoring, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Develop financial models to support demand analysis, cost forecasting, and service planning.
- Produce management reports, variance analysis, and financial insights for decision-making.
- Support year-end closedown, statutory accounts preparation, and financial reporting.
- Manage grant funding, reconciliations, and financial control processes.
- Support transformation programmes, savings plans, and efficiency reviews.
- Prepare financial reports and presentations for senior leadership and governance meetings.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in Local Authority/Public Sector Finance.
- Strong background in Adult Social Care finance (highly desirable).
- Experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
- Knowledge of Local Government finance regulations and CIPFA principles.
- Experience supporting year-end closedown and statutory reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using financial management systems.
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to business partner with senior managers.

Qualifications
- Fully qualified or finalist in CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, CCAB, or equivalent professional finance experience.
