Role Description
The Service and Maintenance Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Birmingham. The engineer will carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and fault diagnosis on air conditioning, ventilation, and heating systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards. - Attending scheduled and reactive service calls
- Performing inspections and testing
- Completing repairs
- Documenting all work using company procedures

The role also involves:
- Communicating clearly with customers on findings
- Providing recommendations for system improvements
- Coordinating with the office team to plan visits and obtain parts
The engineer is expected to:
- Follow all health and safety guidelines
- Maintain tools and company vehicles in good condition
- Support colleagues on larger installations or complex technical issues as needed
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in servicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting air conditioning, ventilation, and heating systems.
- City and Guilds qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline and current FGAS certification or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications, and apply diagnostic procedures effectively.
- Solid understanding of health and safety practices, industry regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in clear, accessible language.
- Good time management, organization, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Capability to work independently on-site, adapt to changing priorities, and collaborate with team members when required.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for service and maintenance appointments.
- Previous experience as a service or maintenance engineer in HVAC or building services is highly beneficial.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying up to date with new technologies and best practices in the field.
