Service & Maintenance Engineer

The Role
As a Service & Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing a range of specialist equipment both at customer sites and within the company's workshop. The role combines customer-facing field service activities with internal maintenance responsibilities, making it ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys variety.
Key duties will include:
- Service, calibration, fault finding and repair of specialist electrical and mechanical equipment
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs
- Building, testing and commissioning equipment
- Installation and support of equipment at customer sites
- Producing and reviewing service and calibration documentation
- Liaising with customers regarding repairs, service requirements and technical support
- Supporting facility and site maintenance activities
- Working closely with colleagues to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Regular travel throughout the UK with occasional travel across Europe

Skills & Experience
To be successful in this position, you should have:
- A recognised electrical engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC, HNC, Apprenticeship or equivalent
- Experience in servicing, fault finding, maintenance and repair of electrical and electro-mechanical equipment
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
- Good communication skills and a professional customer-facing manner
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- IT literacy with experience using Windows-based systems
- A full UK driving licence
- A valid passport and willingness to travel when required
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience carrying out calibration work
- Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance programmes
- Facilities or building maintenance experience
- Experience working within laboratory, scientific, pharmaceutical, healthcare, manufacturing or regulated environments
