Service Assistant
We are looking to recruit a reliable and enthusiastic Service Assistant to join our Catering Team at Central Saint Michael on a full-time, 36 weeks term-time only basis. Reporting to the Chef Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of our catering service, helping to provide a welcoming, safe, and high-quality dining experience for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of food and refreshments, including salad items, baked products, and hot food service preparation for any of our catering outlets anything required from the Chef Manager
- Prepare and set up dining and service areas where needed, ensuring they are clean, organised, and ready for service including any restocking of goods
- Operate cash tills and undertake cashier duties in line with college procedures
- Clean down of catering areas to a high standard
- Assist with washing-up and daily cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
- Follow SFBB regards food temperatures recordings cleaning rotas are all completed
- Assist with college hospitality functions, open events, and other special events
- Follow food hygiene, food safety, and health and safety procedures always

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Experience working in a catering, hospitality or food service environment is desirable
- Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety practices
- The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment and manage a variety of tasks
- Basic numeracy skills and confidence using a cash till
